Inspired by fashion photography, Michelle discovered makeup while building a photography portfolio to submit to art school. Derailed by this new curiosity, Michelle transitioned from photography to makeup over ten years ago. Cutting her teeth in production and through assisting, she learned quickly the intricacies of image making and on-set etiquette.
With a love for texture, design, balance and emotion, Michelle approaches makeup with an artist’s eye. In constant pursuit for sources of color inspiration, she understands the importance of color relationship and puts great thought into the color palettes she works with. Leaning to a cleaner sensibility, she often allows the makeup to complement the uniqueness of her subjects and embraces the beauty in the imperfect.
Always drawn to the narrative of the image, whether still or moving, Michelle finds the collaborative process the most rewarding part of her job. She finds herself fortunate to be able to work with so many talented people to facilitate the creative goal of conveying a mood, image or story.
