Quenton Barnette started off his hair career at the early age of 11, giving himself at-home barber fades with a $10 pair of clippers that his mother bought to save money on professional haircuts, not knowing he would eventually have a career as a hairdresser himself and go on to work and become 1st assistants to some of fashion's top hairstylists in the industry today including Orlando Pita, Sally Hershberger, Mark Townsend, Teddy Charles and Renato Campora.
At 17, before his journey as a licensed hairstylist began, Quenton joined and served in the United States Marine Corps for an enlistment of 4 years. While enlisted he continued his passion for hair in his free time by giving military regulation haircuts every Sunday to his marine corps comrades throughout his 4 year enlistment.
Shortly after his enlistment, Quenton pursued his passion for hairdressing at Paul Mitchell the School in San Diego, Ca. where he learned the basic fundamentals of hairdressing. After passing The State Board of Cosmetology, he went on to assist celebrity hairdresser Sally Hershberger at her downtown salon in the Meat Packing Dist. in New York City for 2 years. After assisting Sally, he spent the next year and a half learning the art of freelance hairdressing from Renato Campora & Mark Townsend, then 2 more years after that with Teddy Charles.
When Quenton landed the 1st assistant roll to legendary hairstylist Orlando Pita for a 3 year assisting contract, his eyes were truly opened creatively to the endless possibilities of hairdressing and other creative avenues that could only be mentored and taught by the hairstylist who has been the driving force within fashion and beauty for the past 2 decades.
Over time Quenton has steadfastly cultivated his own career as a freelance hair stylist. His work takes him around the world working on the Paris & New York Fashion shows as well as working on high calibre advertising shoots, editorials and celebrity press junkets.
